During the one-hour procedure, a low level of electric current is applied to the eye. A specially designed eye goggle is used to deliver the current. This has been shown to improve the movement of nutrition from the patient’s blood to the cells of the eye. These special goggles apply the electrical current to four places on the closed eye.
