Vision disturbances are different for everyone and can affect you at any point in your life, youth to old age. Here are a few warning signs. If you notice any of the following, it would be a good idea to make an appointment for an eye exam with your local Optician.
Difficulty seeing at night – Driving at night you may notice lights become starred and glary. Night vision fading in brightness could also indicate cataracts. Halos may be seen around objects.
Blurriness – Both far and near sightedness can make life tough. Distance or close up, you really need both in focus.
Going from light to dark and back again – If your eyes do not adjust right away it may mean eye muscles are weakening.
Computer-induced issues – if you are sitting at your usual distance and squinting, your vision may be worsening.
Eye Fatigue – Do your eyes now get tired more easily reading, doing computer based work, or other close-up focused tasks? – try taking breaks and making sure you have ample lighting. If it persists, visit your doctor.
Headaches – This is a big clue that you may need an eye exam. When strained, your eyes will alert you by giving you pain which translates as a headache.
Pressure behind your eyes – can be a sign of glaucoma. It’s important to get it checked.
While these symptoms don’t mean for sure that you have a vision issue or need glasses, an eye exam is highly recommended for health and peace of mind. To find a qualified Optometrist in Lee County please visit www.ipalc.org/find.
